Fort Carroll Lighthouse – Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore, Maryland
In the stillness of a winter morning, I cruised slowly toward one of the Chesapeake Bay’s most haunting structures — the Fort Carroll Lighthouse, perched atop the crumbling remains of a 19th-century sea fort. The air was quiet, the water slick as glass, and the early light cast a soft glow over the stone walls and rusted railings of this forgotten island.

Photographed with a wide-angle lens from a low angle aboard my boat, I framed the lighthouse to emphasize the contrast between its weathered frame and the calm clarity of the Bay. Once a beacon for ships entering Baltimore Harbor, Fort Carroll now sits in quiet decay — a ghost of both military ambition and maritime history.
