Craighill Channel Lighthouse – Chesapeake Bay, Baltimore, Maryland
On a cold winter morning with the Bay churning beneath my boat, I set out into the rough water near Baltimore to photograph one of the Chesapeake’s most distinctive sentinels — the Craighill Channel Lighthouse. Also known as the “Spark Plug,” this compact, cast-iron structure has stood strong for generations, guiding vessels through the approach to Baltimore Harbor.
Photographed with a telephoto lens from a low angle just above the waterline, the lighthouse rises defiantly from the waves — a symbol of endurance, purpose, and the unshakable rhythm of navigation. The sea was choppy, the wind biting, and yet the light held its place, steady and unmoved in the cold.
Available in a variety of fine art sizes and finishes — a bold piece for lovers of lighthouse architecture, maritime history, or the strength found in coastal solitude.
